As part of our mission to take spectacular photographs all over the world, we recently sent Dale, one of our fearless photographers, to what is perhaps the spookiest forest in the world.
Transylvania is considered by many to be the most mysterious place in the world and the Hoia-Baciu Forest near Cluj is considered by some locals to be the most mysterious place in Transylvania.
This forest, which covers an area of 250 hectares, has been the site of a wide range of supernatural phenomena. Reported weirdnesses include UFO sightings, ghost sightings and faces appearing in photographs that were not visible with the naked eye. Visitors often report feelings of intense anxiety and a sense of being watched.
According to legend, the forest was named after a shepherd who entered with a flock of two hundred sheep and was never seen again.
The area became well known internationally in 1968, when a military technician, Emil Barnea and some of his friends, headed into the forest to spend a weekend away (ignoring the warnings of the locals). The group spotted and allegedly photographed something that looked like a UFO flying slowly and silently.
The film was processed and is considered by some as the clearest images of a UFO photographed in the world.
Sadly, Dale didn’t manage to photograph any UFO’s but he did capture… well… take a look and see for yourself…
