The sky is the limit for our Vacation Travel Guides: from Argentina to Zimbabwe, we capture the world. Our cameraman Jon even got to stick his head in the clouds when we sent him from London to “Darkest Peru,” (yes, that’s right, Paddington’s journey in reverse) in search of Machu Picchu at almost 2,500 metres.
Our video script writer Barbara, who helps run a charity in Peru, considers hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, to be one of the highlights of all her travels through South America. She provided Jon with useful tips and warned him about altitude sickness, and the likelihood of missing luggage and delays due to strikes. Despite all of the above actually happening to him, Jon managed to beautifully capture Machu Picchu, the mystical city in the Andes. He was in the good company of a local guide, recruited by our producer Sandra.
Upon his return, Barbara found that there was enough stunning footage to cover the whole Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu in a mini documentary. She consulted our in-house composer Jacquie on the music, who wowed us all with her well-timed pan flute and Spanish guitar tunes. One of Barbara’s charity team members, Elita, recorded the Quechua words for the correct pronunciation and our video editor Sawyer sent it to Rosi, an experienced voice over artist with Latin American accent. Sawyer then added his own magic to the mix and the result is truly captivating.
